 | Does Ephorus keep all submitted documents? |
| | | Yes, Ephorus keeps every individual document in its databases. Every educational institute has its own database. This means that all instructors from the same educational institute have a joint database. |
|
 | Where does Ephorus search for similar texts? |
| | Ephorus checks for similarities with public sources on the Internet and in the database of the educational institute(s). Students can therefore no longer use work obtained from the Internet or from fellow students. If an educational institute is a member of a database pool, the databases of other members will also be searched. |
|
 | Can I also include source documents in our database, to ensure future documents can be compared to them? |
| | | Ephorus will include all content from the educational institute in the database, free of charge. If you would like to place a larger number of documents, please contact support@ephorus.com. |
|
 | What is a ‘database pool’? |
| | A ‘database pool’ is a collection of organisations’ databases. All educational institutes that are members of the same database pool share their documents, so when Ephorus searches for similarities, the databases of those other institutes in the pool are also searched.
When Ephorus detects similarities between an uploaded document and a document in another institute’s database, the text from the source document will not be available in the report due to privacy considerations. |
